“After studying architecture for two years and not finding much fulfillment in my academic life, I had a lot of trouble realizing what I truly wanted to accomplish professionally. Making the decision to study medicine at UMF Iasi has opened the door for many career opportunities for me, which I am extremely grateful for. It has finally allowed me to not only feel confident, but to also flourish academically. Coming from Morocco, it has been refreshing to make international long-lasting friendships with motivated students from all over the globe, and to be able to partake in extracurricular activities in the context of student associations such as EMSA Iasi.”

“I’ve always wanted to study medicine and initially wanted to apply to a Canadian university. However, getting a medical degree back home is very complicated and time consuming, so when I was recommended Romania by some family and friends, I was intrigued. After further research, I decided to apply to Iasi – and I am very glad I did. I’ve found Iasi to be an amazing city, and the university to be a great place to learn. UMF is continuously modernizing, with many new additions such as the simulation center which really adds to our practical education. We are also given interactive lessons in the hospitals with real cases and I find that to be very helpful. There’s so much diversity in terms of students here as well and I’ve gotten to the chance to meet friends from all over the world. I’m very appreciative of the many opportunities UMF and Iasi have offered me.”

“I always wished to study medicine and become a doctor in order to help all the people as much as I can. Unfortunately, my native country (Italy) couldn’t give me the opportunity to pursue my dream – but thanks to UMF, I’m still chasing it. I also had the pleasure to be involved in a very successful and affirmed organization called EMSA, which helped me in my worst moments to rise up and keep going. I will never be thankful enough to UMF Iasi and EMSA for all the opportunity they gave me.”

In the past three years, I have had many opportunities, such as being able to participate in on-call duties, have lessons in the simulation center which helped me learn more practically than just theoretically, and the opportunity to join an international community that is also a family through EMSA Iasi. “Growing up in Israel being raised by a Romanian mother and an Arab father has always left me wondering about daily life and studies in my other country of origin. I am so happy to have taken the step to fully experience what Romania has to offer throughout the 5 years I’ve been here. Moreover, UMF Iasi has offered me and many others what many medical schools do not: being able to translate our theoretical knowledge into practice, as well as individualized teaching that will propel us towards a radiant future.”
